Helsinki Hacklabille on myönnetty loppuvuodesta 2023 asematunnus OH2HAC.
Käynnissä oleva softaradistikurssi pääsee myös nyt rakentamaan uutta radioamatööriasemaa, perusradiona IC-7300, jolle aloitetaan koulutukset keväällä. Koska alakerran ympäristö on vaikea radioliikenteelle, läbille tiedossa pian uusia antenniprojekteja. Syksyn kurssin aikana viisitoista uutta henkilöä suoritti radioamatööritutkinnon.

The start of year 2024 will include our usual open Tuesdays, software radio meetup/course (in Finnish only) and Disobey 2024 event in February.
Please note that events previously marked in our calendar for January might shift places or have cancelations during the first weeks of 2024. We will sort this out as soon as the new year begins and new trustees start their work.
Our last event of the year is the ongoing 37th Chaos Communication Congress in Hamburg. Helsinki Hacklab represents our club with a small team together with the Cold North Cluster.
Läbin vanhemman metron laiturinäytön kaveriksi ilmestyi syyskuussa isompi aikataulunäyttö, joka oli palvellut Kampin aseman rullaportaiden yläpuolella viime vuosiin asti. Näyttö vapautui uuteen käyttöön Kampin aseman uudistustöiden yhteydessä. Näytöllä on yhteensä kuusi riviä tilaa tekstille verrattuna vanhan näytön kahteen riviin, mutta tämä näyttö ei ole laiturinäytön tapaan kuitenkaan kaksipuolinen. Kello on tässä mallissa osana samaa kokonaisuutta.
Vesa-Pekka/Depili ehti saada selvitettyä laitteen ohjaamisen ja käytön tekniikan alle viikossa näytön saapumisesta. Tekstin esittämistä varten näyttö osaa suoraan tehdä vieritettyä tekstiä, vilkkuvia viestejä ja muita tehosteita. Ohjelmiston takaisinmallinnuksessa käytettiin Ghidraa ja sarjaportin signaali jäljitettiin ohjauslevyltä. Protokollan kanssa keskustellaan Go-ohjelman avulla. Korjaaviksi tehtäviksi jää vielä mahdollinen kellon taustavalon vaihto, läpivientiliittimen vaihto, keskuskellolähettimen asennus ja tiivisteiden uusiminen. Vanha ohjelmisto on laitettu talteen ja eprommin kanssa on edetty nyt kokeiluihin uuden ohjelmiston siirtämiseksi alkuperäiselle ohjauselvylle.
Pikaratikan aloittaessa kohta liikennöinnin lähellä läbiä (Ravitien pysäkki), näyttö saattaa hyvinkin palautua vielä alkuperäiseen käyttöönsä, eli joukkoliikenteen aikataulujen esittämiseen. Asennuspaikkojen mahdollisiksi vaihtoehdoiksi on tähän mennessä mietitty sekä sisä- että ulkotiloja. Näyttö saattaa vierailla läbin mukana myös ensi vuoden tapahtumissa.

Helsinki Hacklab has returned from Chaos Communication Camp 2023, after a week long hacking, creating and partying in Germany with our friends from hacklab.fi, CitySec, Salmiakki Village and the whole Cold North Cluster. The cluster is our village friends from from all around the Nordic countries and beyond. Nice to see all the familiar and new faces joining the area! The cluster keeps the doors open for new participants in the future as well.
Oulu took a big role in the logistics again, with their patent pallet crate full of all important stuff for the proper camp experience. We had multiple people from Finnish hackerspaces in Salmiakki Village alongside with infosec people and others. Cold North cluster was the most successful of all the camps so far, even if the planning was a bit fuzzy in the start. Thanks for everyone taking part in the communications making it the greatest so far, even if the village did not have a sauna this time. We’ll fix that for the next Dutch camp in 2025.
Some of the cluster highlights: the open area in middle of the cluster and shade from sun, Omega’s tesla coil, Anderstorp’s party booth and playlist, BornHack’s sticker collection, daily cluster meetups and DJ open decks by rambo. The communications channel is now established better than before, so we’re set to sail for new camps and congresses. Such as the new Mastodon feed we set up!
Big thanks also to all the visitors in our cluster and for those ones brave (and fast) enough to get the taste of salmiakki, and our apologies if you were left out due to high demand.

1 The board has updated the general rules how to use the workspace / code of conduct. The new addition underlines the statement in our official rules that our organisation is for hobbyists. The new addition requires that the terms of non-hobbyist use of the space are negotiated and do not disturb hobbyist use.

3 The board arranges a new type of open meeting for the members and their questions. The agenda is open and the subject can be anything related to the organisation and its operation. Members are invited to join the meeting on Sunday 2023-08-13 at 14.00.

Huomioithan, että jäsenmaksun maksutiedot muuttuvat joka vuosi! Viitenumero ei ole enää sama kuin edellisellä kerralla ja maksun määrä päätetään syyskokouksesa joka vuosi erikseen, joten jäsenmaksua ei voi siis laittaa vuosittain toistuvaksi. Myös avainjäsenet maksavat jäsenmaksun.

Helsinki Hacklab ry:n sääntömääräinen syyskokous järjestetään sunnuntaina 27.11.2022 klo 14. Kokous järjestetään sekä läbillä Takkatie 18:ssa fyysisesti että Jitsissä virtuaalisesti. Osallistumislinkki jaetaan jäsenille Slackissa ennen kokouksen alkamista. Jitsi ei tarvitse toimiakseen kuin selaimen, joten osallistujalla ei tarvitse olla muita ohjelmistoja tai lisäosia koneessaan.

MCH2022 camp is now over and the Finnish village empty in the scouting field of Flevoland, the Netherlands. Helsinki Hacklab was represented alongside with Hacklab.fi, HelSec, TurkuSec etc. other groups and individuals, plus joining forces with other Nordic villages forming the Cold North cluster in “the noisy corner”.
Originally the camp was supposed to be in 2021 but got postponed to 2022. In total the participant count was about 3 500 hackers, many of volunteering as well. If you want to get a glimpse of the atmosphere, get to know what the event is all about, most of the streamed talks are already archived online.
The village cluster got lucky the rental sauna, after a competing reservation for a different event got canceled and the idea was greenlighted from the organizers. Just like last time, the awesome new conference badge also got an app for the temperature tracking, though this time our village managed to release it quickly on day zero. As usual, our party tent was full of salmiakki in all shapes and forms except for salmiakki ice cream.
The villagers pushed maybe three or more apps in the badge app store, took volunteering tasks, competed in the CTF and arranged workshops or talks. Helsinki Hacklab provided laser cutted deco for the area. Our machine works great for this type of job because the the working area enables cutting large banners with a single run.
Additional requirements for key membership
Haluatko uudeksi avainjäseneksi? Edellytämme jatkossa hakijalta, että hänet on hyväksytty jäseneksi ennen haastattelupäivää, ja että hänellä ei ole rästissä maksamattomia jäsenmaksuja. Jäsenmaksujen rekisteröitymisessä voi kestää yli 30 päivää, joten odotteluajan kannattaa käyttää esimerkiksi tutustumalla tilaan ja sen kävijöihin, jotta saat samalla parhaan mahdollisen alun avainjäsenyydellesi ja itsenäiselle työskentelylle.
Do you want to become a key member? We now require from the applicant, that they’ve been accepted as a member before the interview day, and that they do not have any outstanding membership payments. The registration of membership payments may take over 30 days, so meanwhile you can spend the time waiting by getting to know the workspace and its users, so that you get the best possible start for your key membership and working on your own.
Due to holidays, unavailable people and events, new key member interview in August had to be rescheduled from usual first Monday of month to a later date. The new date is now on Wed 10.8. and is updated in our calendar as well.
Hacklab.fi and Helsinki Hacklab participate in Assembly Summer 2022 with projects and other display stuff. Come greet us if you’re around and ask questions if you want to know more what we do!
We have lots of new things going on in the lab: a new sharpening tool for woodworking and pressure air etc. And most notably, we are working on a solution to get small scale painting and surface finishing finally doable in a designaged corner.
